TRANSCRIPT: Labor’s Medicare Cancer Plan is what Australians need

Linda Little:

“Half of all Australians will be diagnosed with some form of cancer in their life time.

This is the most challenging time of their lives. Not only for the person diagnosed with cancer, but also for their family and friends that support them.

That’s why Labor is committed to making this time a little easier.”

Sam Richters:

“I was diagnosed with cancer in 2008 and had a relapse in 2011, which almost claimed my life. This forced me into an early retirement, ahead of my plan. Which put its toll on my wife and family.

I was fortunate enough to get the surgery and treatment that I needed thanks to our public health system, if I did not get that surgery when I did I believe I would not be here today. My brother and best friend were not so lucky.”

Linda Little:

“Labor is committing 2.3 billion dollars to the Medicare Cancer Plan. This changes everything for many families like Sam’s. This is because we fundamentally believe, as we always have, that your health care is determined by your Medicare card, not your credit card.

This plan includes half a million dollars to reduce waiting lists which is critically important for Australians living in rural and remote Queensland.

If you support this cause, you can send that message clearly at the upcoming federal election. A vote for Linda Little is a vote for a fair go in Maranoa.”
