A Shorten Labor Government, if elected, will work with residents and farmers of the Granite Belt to make sure we honour the Government’s $42 million commitment to the Emu Swamp project.
“This project has a number of hurdles to jump before it is approved, but this commitment to honour the government’s announcement will mean the world to the primary producers of the Granite Belt,” Labor candidate for Maranoa Linda Little said.
Ms Little said water security is a critical issue for the Granite Belt.
“I am glad that a Shorten Labor Government will also keep this funding available so that the Commonwealth component of this project is guaranteed,” Ms Little said.
This commitment matches a Government announcement that was rushed out in a whirlwind tour of the area just prior to the election being called.
“I have listened to the electorate and taken action to ensure that Labor in Government will keep delivering to drive productivity in the primary industries, here on the Granite Belt and across Maranoa”.
