About Me

My husband and I moved to the Maranoa electorate (Blackbutt area) five years ago. We purchased our 5 acre block several years before and spent weekends and holidays building our home and it is our perfect piece of paradise.

Since moving to Blackbutt, I have been heavily involved within the local community as a member of the Blackbutt Benarkin Lions Club. I have served as Secretary, Assistant Treasurer and President.  I am currently the Zone Chair and I assist 4 clubs within the district. My role within the Blackbutt Benarkin Lions is the Functions and Events Coordinator. I also had the honour of becoming the Melvin Jones Fellow Award Winner for 2018.

I have previously been the Treasurer of the Benarkin State School P&C Association, a role I held for 2 years. This role gave me great insight into the school systems and the daily struggles of a small school with lack of funding, lack of teacher support and the resources required to enable a first class education for our young people.

I love Rugby League and there is nothing better than seeing my boys play. I am involved with the Nanango Stags JRL as the U14 team manager and as assistant club secretary. Active kids are happier, healthier and make many great friends on their sporting journey. I actively encourage all the children in my life to pursue some form of sporting activity.

My working life has been varied and interesting; I have worked in retail as a sales assistant and as a manager. I have worked and lived on a sheep station, I have worked in hospitality as a bar attendant, worked as the general dogsbody at our family country hotel, I have been a small crops farmer, raised cattle, pigs and chooks on my own property, worked alongside my husband of 32 years in the building industry on the tools and doing the administration. My current role is as a High Support Foster Carer and Personal Carer for my younger brother.

My varied history has enabled me to grow as a person and I have had many opportunities to use my voice and advocacy skills. I have dealt with many forms of Government, Local, State and Federal. I am not shy about asking for what I see as important to the lives of those around me and I believe that we need a strong local voice for this region.

If elected my goal is to advocate for all the constituents of Maranoa and to work for the benefit of all. I want to consult with community organisations and local councils to help improve the lives of all who live within our electorate. I will be that person who holds parliament to account so that we get our fair share of funding for schools, hospitals, infrastructure, jobs, health services, aged care services and youth services. I want to work with you all in securing our future, I care deeply about supporting everyone and I love a challenge. I believe in honesty and fairness for all and I fully support the Labor Party in their efforts to appoint a National Integrity Commission. My views align with the Labor Party policies on respect, fairness and equity for all regardless of, Race, Religion or Gender. Only the Labor Party can move this country forward and give us back our future. I am a good listener and on my travels I hope to hear from as many of you as possible.
